More photos of the wildlife I encountered at Featherdale.
I'm not 100% sure what all the animals above are... I'd need Lyn for that, but she is off shopping for shoes!

Featherdale (Part 1)
Took a walk up the road to the Featherdale wildlife park - which I had in my mind, a sort of blacktown petting zoo!
Boy, was I wrong - it was just as good, if not better, than the london Zoo, and cost 1/2 the price!
I got a chance to take 300 photos - as is my way these days, and got some really good photos of the Aussie wildlife on show!
I've tried to keep the selection to the my favorites - but I do plan to burn a CD of all my favorite photos once we've settle down.

Things I know know..
It has been one week since I arrived here in Oz!
I can safely say, I've yet to see any scary spiders or snakes - just a brief encounter with a garden lizard.
I've had a chance to explore the local grocery store, and I'm happy to have found Kraft Mac & Cheese - although not as you might think. (see Below)
I have also learned, that grapefruit grows on trees! (see below)
To be honest, if you had asked me before where Grapefruit came from, I wouldn't have had a clue...I don't eat them, so I never thought about it!
The Mac & Cheese - in a foil pack, ready for the Microwave!
And the grapefruit tree!

...Hello Sydney
Arrived safely in one piece! No troubles getting into the country at all.
The flight over was 2/3 empty, so managed to get a good nights sleep on the way over - so been minimal jet lag.
So far, everything is going well. I've got my bank account sorted (sweet! very simple process, so I'm still in love with Oz banks!) , I've got a mobile phone, and I'm about to apply for my tax number, medicare card, and my NSW drivers license!
- David
As promised I'm showing Dave all the tourist sights !!!
Apparently the price of everything has gone up in the last 10 years, so much for that champagne lifestyle plan.
Feeling slightly retro sitting in an internet cafe , but enjoying the fact its 20ish degrees and warmer than its been for us in the last 2 years.

Good Bye to Duncan...
It must be the 10th of May! We are on the final leg of our migration trip. Flying tonight from Vancouver to San Fran, and then onwards to Sydney - to arrive the morning of the 12th. I'm still not 100% what happens to May 11th - but I figure I may need to get into my DeLorean one day and visit the 11th of May 2008.
And my use of the DeLorean photo I "borrowed" from the Internet is a cheeky way of admitting my Duncan photos are packed away on my laptop! So you will just have to wait to see the delights that my home town has to offer.
Next stop - Sydney!

Quadra Island
Spent the past 4 days, "Camping" at Quadra Island, with Devon, Nathan and Luna. Quadra Island, is about a 3 hour drive north of Duncan - and the weather was near perfect! We had a nice beechfront Cabin (below), which slept the 5 of us nice and comforably.
The island is pretty sparsely populated, so there was plenty of Beach to walk
And lots of the local sea life to pester!
And the local economy is based on the fisheries - so there were plenty of these boats to be seen!
All in all, a good relaxing 4 day get-away, to a part of Vancouver Island I had never been too!

Bears on the Beach
Spent a beautiful day yesterday at Port Renfrew , in the far south west of the island.
You hike down through the forest and after seeing all the bear and cougar signs I was a little bit nervous but Dave assured me "Don't worry about bears Lyn I've lived here my whole life and never seen one".
So off we went and spent several hours playing around on this amazing beach famed for its rock pools and black sands.
After we climbed back off the beach I sat down to enjoy one last view .
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed my friend here happily eating berries about 10 feet away .
As i backed very slowly away towards where Dave was, his first thought was to take some photos ........ never mind about me!!!!
Needless to say we made it out alive ,if a little shaky and I am now looking for a support group in cyberspace. As a consequence all future posts will be about TV shows and how annoying those constant commercials for medications are,as I am never going outside again !!!!.
